well i've been here for 5 days so far! it's so much different than the us it's not even funny! i live in a ministry house that does have electricity and water, but no hot water and it's not a very sturdy house! so far i've worked a lot with street kids and had a few church services. i visited the mayan ruins of tec pan and that was pretty cool! they were kinda small, but there is so much history in such a place! we saw some people doing ceremonial services for their ancestors; basically witchcraft. they sacrifice chickens to please their gods and ancestors- which is pretty sad. pray for that culture and their practices. some will claim to be christian, but worship these other people/gods.
Today i visited the city dump, where 10,000 people live and work. they collect certain items, like plastic, to sell. it was so sad to see how people work and live like that. they were dirty and all crammed into tiny houses made of scraps.
Then we went to buy pizza to feed teenagers who live on the street. There were several and the whole time they were sniffing paint thinners to get high. And boy were those people high!! But we ministered to them and fed them before playing some soccer with them. I even scored a goal! haha
Yesterday we were all sitting around the ministry house sharing our testimonies and all the sudden the house started shaking!! I had no idea what was happening. then all the sudden a girl on our team from canada said, it's an earthquake!! it didn't last more than 30 seconds and wasn't severe, but it sure got me excited!! haha i really wanted to feel a small one while we're here. we decided to keep a count on how many we feel over the next 2 months.
well we have a lot of site seeing coming up....a volcano we're going to hike, antigua, guatemala city palace, etc. but we are doing some tough work. Doing medical clinics and prayer services, etc. so hard and trying on me. Please pray for us and our ministry! also, don't forget to pray for the people here. they are so oppressed and live very hard, unhealthy, lives. Please pray for our safety and well being. the streets are crazy and the people don't exactly like us gringos! haha
I love you all and miss America so much.... 53 more days!!! haha

Andi! I'm definitely praying for all you guys! That sounds like hard work, but God will definitely use you! We experienced some things like that in Nepal...sacrifices and kids getting high on the streets. Sad stuff, but they just need love. I'm so excited for you and what God's doing over there. You have tons of people back here praying for you! Love you and tell everyone I said hey! :)
